Mathematical Models of Computational and Combinatorial Structures
The general aim of this talk is to advocate a combinatorial perspective, together with its methods, in the investigation and study of models of computation structures. This, of course, should be taken in conjunction with the wellestablished views and methods stemming from algebra, category theory, domain theory, logic, type theory, etc. In support of this proposal I will show how such an approa...
متن کاملMathematical and Computational Models of Transformational Grammar
INTRODUCTION In this paper we compare three models of transformational grammar: the mathematical model of Ginsburg and Partee (1969) as applied by Salomaa (1971), the mathematical model of Peters and Ritchie (1971 and forthcoming), and the computer model of Friedman et al. (1971). All of these are, of course, based on the work of Chomsky as presented in Aspects of the Theory of Syntax (1965). W...
متن کاملCancer Evolution: Mathematical Models and Computational Inference
Cancer is a somatic evolutionary process characterized by the accumulation of mutations, which contribute to tumor growth, clinical progression, immune escape, and drug resistance development. Evolutionary theory can be used to analyze the dynamics of tumor cell populations and to make inference about the evolutionary history of a tumor from molecular data. We review recent approaches to modeli...

متن کاملMathematical models of tumor growth ∗
In the lecture we describe some elements of mathematical modeling of tumor growth. We present deterministic mathematical models most often used for description of tumor growth. Development of a model, based on some biological assumption, is also illustrated by one example. Described models are tested and compared by ability to describe experimental data.
